I’m waking up with a good cup of coffee from our home barista machine (we call it Fritz). Anyway, a story comes on the news about a classic hot rod car show in our area this weekend.
The cars are beautiful, and the creativity of their builders is impressive. But what is the most fun is that these cars are all street drivable.
That immediately reminds me of one my favorite sayings: “In life there are passengers and drivers. Be a driver.”
So, I offer it up to you this morning as a thought for your day.
Your life can be beautiful from the outside. All the colors and people can be perfectly coordinated. Your body can be nicely restored, by your own hard work or a surgeon’s skilled knife J, and your personality can regularly win best-in-show. But, if you’re not the driver of this “perfect” life, it can feel colorless and uninspiring.
Be the driver.
Don’t let the world, through all its influences near and far, press you into its mold for you. Don’t be just an accessory to your life.
Be the driver.
Perhaps my life and yours will pass each other on life’s Main Street someday, and I expect to see you behind the wheel.
