God Wants You to Prosper

God Wants You to Prosper

You and I are created to succeed. It’s the world around us and the world in us that war against our success.

In the 3rd book from the Apostle John in the Bible, God tells us, “I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”

In one glorious sentence, he tells us that he wants us to be prosperous in all things, be healthy, and have a prosperous soul.

We pretty much understand material prosperity and health, but what – exactly – is our soul?

Our soul is our mind, will, and emotions. They combined to form who we are and how we think and respond to life and its circumstances.

So, if God wants us to prosper inside and out, then why aren’t we all prospering? Because we have opposition inside and out. Let’s see how this works. We’ll begin with what God wants for us.

God want us to be…

Prosperous

The dictionary defines prosperous as “successful in material terms; flourishing financially.” Pretty clear. We’re designed to have financial success. So, what’s stopping us?

From the outside: we call them the Coalition of Four. They include the Advertising industry, the Media, the Merchants, and the Banks. These four self-serving cultural influencers/manipulators create a hypnotic matrix designed to suck the financial life out of us during our productive years, and then throw us away when we’re too old to generate much money for them.

From the inside: our soul is insecure, and if it can’t get its sense of worth from its Creator, it seeks acceptance and affirmation from other souls. That makes us susceptible to the Coalition of Four’s manipulations.

Since we want to be accepted by, and appear successful to, those around us, the Coalition uses this inside insecurity to sell us cars, clothing, houses, entertainment, and myriad other stuff and experiences, with assurances that they will make us shine among our friends and family…and thereby make us feel better about ourselves.

Healthy

The dictionary defines healthy as “free from disease or pain:  enjoying health and vigor of body, mind, or spirit.” Even the dictionary agrees that God designed us to be well in our body. So, what’s stopping us?

From the outside: the Coalition bombards us with messages seducing us into eating horribly unhealthy diets, and then more messages promising a pill or exercise routine that will counteract it. The culture, created and perpetuated by the Coalition of Four, further tempts us with drugs, from opioids to alcohol to nicotine.

From the inside: we’re essentially wimps when it comes to standing up to ourselves. We give in to eating unhealthily because it tastes good. We give in to smoking, because our insecurity wants us to be accepted by people who smoke. We give in to drugs, because we want to fit in with the world around us…or escape from it. And we give in to excuses to not exercise, because our will is not as strong as our mind and emotions.

A Prosperous Soul

To understand the plight of our soul, we must put it into context. We are 3-part beings: body, soul, and spirit. Our spirit is that part of us that connects with God. Our soul (mind, will, emotions) connects both to our spirit and our body. God designed us to prosper in our soul. So, what’s stopping us?

From the outside: our poor mind and emotions are constantly bombard by Coalition messages measuring us against its “perfect” images. We see commercials with perfect (Photoshopped) models. We see ads with people who appear happier than us, because they drive a better car. We see movies with people who appear more successful than us, because they behave – or misbehave – differently from us. And we have noisy media voices pitting “our people” against “their people” based on everything from the color of our skin to what bathroom we’d like to use.

From the inside: our emotional insecurities leave us susceptible to all these external influences, and we react to them like Pavlovian dogs. Our emotional insecurities come, largely, from mistakenly measuring our self-worth by how those around us and the Coalition see us, rather than getting our self-worth from how our Creator sees us. You’re the apple of his eye. He loves you unconditionally. He thinks you’re great.

From the other outside: another voice reaching our soul comes from Satan, the Emperor Palpetine of the spiritual dimension. He hates us. He wants to destroy our sense of self-worth. He wants us susceptible to the Coalition of Four. He wants to undermine our prosperity at all 3 levels: body, soul, and spirit.

It’s Up to Us

God wants us to prosper.

Through his word, and through all the teaching available in the world, the pathway to prosperity is made clear. There’s really no mystery to it.

We just have to decide to prosper. Sounds too simple, but it’s true.

Plans change. Decisions don’t. If you decide to open your body, soul, and spirit up to the prosperity God has designed for it; and you decide to resist the devil and the Coalition of Four, you will succeed. When you take the right steps for the right reasons, success must follow.

You’ll find a wealth of prosperous guidance in the Bible.

I thought it was just a fable, but it’s true!
